Movies at School

When I was a kid, you could get into a movie for a dime. For another dime, you could get a large bag of popcorn and a Coke. But we also had an even better deal. On Friday nights, the city recreation department sponsored a free movie at South Park School. Hundreds of kids got in line early to make sure they got a seat. Weather was not a deterrent. Whether or not you had seen the movie before made no difference. As a matter of fact, the same movie was shown at the high school on Saturday afternoon and a lot of us would see it there again. Why not? The price was right. We even saw a silent movie or two.
