With all the crazy weather events of late, I thought it appropriate to recommend Ninth Ward. I have never read a book about Hurricane Katrina quite as insightful as this. Although the text is written in simple language, the content may not be suitable for younger students. This is my favorie book by this acclaimed author.

What a fun story about belonging yet seeking adventure independently. McGlauflin also illustrated this adorable rhyming book. This is sure to enchant even the most serious readers.
