Neighbors Past and Present: The Wisconsin German Experience

The Max Kade Institute for German-American Studies brings their traveling exhibit "Neighbors Past and Present: the Wisconsin German Experience" to the library. On fourteen panels that draw largely on images and resources from the MKI Library and Archives, the exhibit covers German migration and settlement in Wisconsin, questions of ethnicity and identity in newly forged communities, and the cohesiveness of these communities over the decades, especially in times of economic crisis or war.

Wild Winter Read Off Celebration and Author Visit with Lisl Detlefsen

It's a celebration! Wrap up your Wild Winter Reading adventure from 9 a.m. to noon. Award-winning author Lisl Detlefsen visits from 10 to 11 a.m.  

Plan on a great morning filled with literacy-related activities including: DIY jetpack making, a sensory "cranberry marsh" activity station, cookie decorating, a photo opportunity and more. Be sure to attend Lisl Detlefsen's presentation and hear about life on her family's cranberry marsh and how she became an award-winning author. There will be time for a Q&A session and book signing.
